Report: S.C. ranks third as top destination to relocate
The Palmetto State trails Texas and Florida as the most popular state for relocation, according to the 44th annual Magnet States Report released by Allied Van Lines. South Carolina had a net relocation gain of 489 families for 2011, the report said.
Accuride boosts aluminum wheel production
The Indiana-based company’s new Camden facility increased its manufacturing capacity for aluminum wheels by 21% during 2011. The South Carolina plant acquired in June was a part of the Accuride Corp.’s $35 million strategic initiative to meet the commercial vehicle industry’s demand for aluminum wheels.
SRS tritium program reaches goal ahead of schedule
Federal authorities recently recognized the Savannah River Site at Aiken for quadrupling its standard production output. The Reservoir Acceleration Project called for all tritium production and shipping commitments through February 2012 to be completed by November 2011 in order to prepare for a three-month shipment hiatus.
Ameresco receives final approval of biomass facility
The U.S. Department of Energy Savannah River Operations Office awarded Ameresco a final acceptance certificate to complete construction of its DOE Savannah River Site biomass cogeneration facility. The plant is on schedule to provide steam to the SRS and provide 30% of power for the site once fully operational.
Cason Group promotes two employees
The Cason Group recently named Ryan Evans as director of operations, and Vince Guerra as manager of marketing and sales development. The Columbia-based company serves insurance agents and brokers throughout the Southeast offering medical and financial services insurance.
Job of the Week
MUSC Physicians is seeking temporary trainers to teach physicians, clinical and non-clinical staff how to use Epic, an Electronic Medical Records system. A five-week training course is provided.
