SCBT Financial Corp. profit drops 56% in 2011
The Columbia-based bank holding company posted $22.6 million in net income for the year, down from $51.9 million in 2010. In the fourth quarter of 2011, the bank said net income jumped to $4.8 million from $559,000 in the fourth quarter of 2010.
Foreclosure closings account for fewer home sales
In South Carolina, 10% of home sales in the third quarter of 2011 were foreclosure related, according to the latest data from RealtyTrac. Both statewide and national figures were down over the same time last year, in part because of uncertainty in the process of buying and selling foreclosure properties, the company said.
Ameris Bancorp posts $17.9M in net income for 2011
The Georgia-based regional bank’s 2011 net income earnings is a sharp turnaround compared with its $7.2 million loss in 2010. The bank also reported total deposits were up 2.2% to $2.59 billion.
South Atlantic Bank reports first yearly profit
The Myrtle Beach-based bank said net income for 2011 was $1,155,407, compared with a loss of $944,856 in 2010. South Atlantic Bancshares first began operations in 2007.
Continental deal earns award for S.C. commerce
The S.C. Department of Commerce was honored with the Silver Award for economic development by Business Facilities magazine for Continental Tire the Americas’ plans to invest $500 million in a new factory, expand its U.S. headquarters and create 1,700 jobs.
