Sonoco boosted profit 30% in Q3
The Hartsville-based company, said net income for the third quarter rose to $77.2 million, from $59 million in the same quarter 2010. Third-quarter sales were $1.12 billion, up 7% from $1.05 billion a year ago.
BB&T reports 46% increase in net income
The increase was driven by significantly improved credit quality and solid performances across all lines of business. Net revenues totaled $2.2 billion this quarter, up approximately 28%.
CFO of local bank sentenced for embezzlement
Torlando Ramont Childress, the former chief financial officer of South Carolina Community Bank, was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 18 months imprisonment for embezzlement by a bank employee.
