Audit: ‘Questionable’ spending at S.C. State
The Legislative Audit Council said in its report posted today that S.C. State needs $80 million to complete the James E. Clyburn University Transportation Center but that it found nothing to back up allegations of $50 million in missing funds.
Michelin’s chairman and president to retire
Dick Wilkerson, the chairman and president of Michelin North America in Greenville, will retire by the end of the year, Michelin Group announced today. Pete Selleck, currently president of Michelin Truck Tires worldwide, will succeed him.
Camden wheel-maker acquired by Accuride
Accuride bought most of the assets of Forgitron Technologies LLC, including an 80,000-square-foot forged aluminum wheel manufacturing facility in Camden. The plant will close for about 30 days to convert manufacturing to Accuride-branded aluminum wheels.
Westinghouse to deliver fuel to new TVA nuclear plant
Westinghouse manufactured the fuel assemblies at its Columbia fuel fabrication facility and will ship the assemblies between late June and August. Fuel loading is expected to begin in 2012 at Watts Bar 2, which is currently under construction.
Irmo man convicted of defrauding trailer leasing firm
Gary Lee Gillion, 51, of Irmo, was convicted last week in U.S. District Court of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and four counts of mail fraud in connection with a scheme aimed at CitiCapital Trailer Leasing while he was the company’s Southeast regional manager.
Benjamin elected to U.S. Conference of Mayors board
Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin has been elected to serve on the advisory board of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, which is meeting this week in Baltimore.

The coordinator will work with students, faculty, the public, employers and institutions to promote, assess and further the MBA program. A master’s degree is required, as is some experience.
