Federal Reserve: Job growth slows in South Carolina
In its monthly survey of business activity in the Carolinas, the Federal Reserve found that S.C. employers are cautious about hiring despite an increase in general business activity. In the Columbia MSA, total employment declined by 2,800 jobs in December.
S.C. BlueCross earns highest A.M. Best rating
The insurance-rating and information agency affirmed the strength rating of A+(Superior) for BlueCross and BlueShield of South Carolina. A.M. Best annually rates BlueCross as a group of companies and also rates some of its 45 subsidiaries individually.
Strand Development maps national expansion plan
The third-party hotel operator Strand Development Co. is seeking to expand its 70-plus hotel portfolio into the Midwest and West Coast markets. John Pharr, president of Strand, said the company’s goal is to grow 20% to 30% annually.
