Boeing to roll out first S.C.-built 787 April 27

The Boeing Co. will host a Rollout Ceremony on April 27 to showcase the completion of its first 787 built in North Charleston. South Carolina dignitaries and Boeing executives will speak during the ceremony.

Michelin to announce big expansion

Officials from Lexington and Anderson counties will speak at a Tuesday news conference in Greenville regarding the tire manufacturer's announcement. In a related matter, the Lexington County Council plans to meet at 5 p.m. today to sign off on a long-term fee-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement with Michelin.

S.C.-built X5 SAV helps lead BMW sales surge

BMW recorded an 18% sales hike in March and narrowly leads German rival Mercedes-Benz for title of best-selling luxury brand in the U.S. Year-to-date, BMW sales are up 17% for a total of 61,549 vehicles compared with 52,616 sold in the first three months of 2011.

Aiken Tech site of new markets workshop

A workshop hosted by Aiken Technical College and the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership this month will provide companies information and strategies on how to develop into new markets. Executives and upper level managers from manufacturing and distribution companies are encouraged to attend.
