Columbia home sales tumble 70% in November
The sales of residential property in the Columbia area plummeted in November, with area real estate agents selling only 123 units for the month compared to 435 in November 2010. Meanwhile, Charleston and Greenville recorded an increase in home sales, according to a report issued by the South Carolina Realtors.
S.C. tax revenue up 6% in November
The report released by the state Board of Economic Advisors is an indication that the South Carolina economy is on the mend, and officials said they are confident the upward trend in revenues will continue for the foreseeable future.
City of Columbia seeks input on proposed Walmart
City officials are considering a plan to sell Capital City Stadium and have it developed into a site for a Walmart store. A public hearing on the proposed redevelopment will be held Monday night in the Olympia Room at 701 Whaley St.
S.C. foreclosures continue to rise
Unlike the nation overall, South Carolina’s November foreclosures didn’t slow, growing 10% over October and 3.9% over last year. U.S. foreclosure activity declined a bit from its seven-month high in October. November numbers show 224,394 homes under some sort of distress nationwide.
