Boeing S.C.’s first Dreamliner rolls into position
A 787 Dreamliner moved to a new production position after putting weight on its wheels for the first time Sunday, The Boeing Co. announced. Boeing said it expects to deliver the first 787 from North Charleston during the first quarter of 2012.
BEA: S.C. ranks 37th in quarterly growth
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis determined that South Carolina earnings fell by $10 million against second quarter numbers. However, the state exceeded national averages in some job sectors. The largest growth was seen in health care and social assistance.
Ports authority suspends Jasper funding
The S.C. Ports Authority board voted Tuesday to suspend funding for the Jasper Ocean Terminal project, citing concerns with the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project. The board said an alternative to deepening the Savannah River to the Jasper terminal should be studied.
Amy’s Kitchen puts Upstate plant on hold
The organic food maker planned to hire 700 people and open a packaging plant in Greenville in January. Amy’s said this week it put those plans on hold for a few years as it upgrades other facilities to keep pace with rising demand.
