SCANA contracts with N.C. company for nuclear project

Pike Electric Corp. was given a $275 million contract for engineering, procurement and construction of 250 miles of 230-kilovolt transmission lines associated with the expansion of the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station in South Carolina.

Federal grand jury indicts 10 on business crime charges

Ten people have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Columbia on charges of business-related crimes. Eight of those charged were involved in a credit card fraud ring, said U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles.

South Carolina among national LEED-ers

South Carolina is among the top 10 states for LEED-certified green buildings, according to a list released Wednesday by the U.S. Green Building Council. No other Southeastern state made the cut.

The Columbia-based real estate developer is buying the historic Pepper Building in Winston-Salem, N.C., and plans to renovate it, according to a company official.

The University of South Carolina is hiring a data coordinator for its Development and Alumni Affairs, Advancement Services department. The coordinator will be responsible for data collection, data entry and logging of all gifts received by the university.
