Duke seeks rate cut, faces investigation
Duke Energy filed with state regulators to reduce electric rates, a byproduct of its merger with Progress Energy. Regulators in North Carolina, meanwhile, said they hired a former federal prosecutor to investigate the merger and Duke’s firing of CEO Bill Johnson.
Aerospace company to invest $7M in new S.C. facility
A.I.D. Co., a business of RBC Bearings Inc., Thursday announced plans to relocate from Georgia to a new facility in Oconee County. The aerospace component manufacturer plans to invest $7 million and create 75 jobs over the next five years.
EPA, DHEC to probe Royster fertilizer site
A branch of the Environmental Protection Agency and the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control will be testing soil in Columbia’s Edisto Court community, located opposite of a former fertilizer plant. In May, DHEC was notified that arsenic was found in the soils and groundwater on part of the Royster property.
GSSM Foundation names new directors
The Governor's School for Science and Mathematics Foundation named five new board members that will join the 30 current members from across the state. The foundation supports the S.C. Governor's School, providing supplemental funds to augment its programs.
