Delta launching additional N.Y.   service this week

Delta, which has seen   more than a 4% increase in passenger boardings at Columbia Metropolitan   Airport, will be adding a daily flight to LaGuardia Airport this week. The   new service will depart Columbia at 5:30 p.m. and arrive at LaGuardia about   two hours later.

Ports authority pursuing inland   port in Greer

The inland port has the   potential to take 50,000 trucks off the highway and will be a partnership   between the port and Norfolk Southern. S.C. State Ports Authority officials   expect the entire project to cost roughly $23.5 million and to be completed   within 18 months.

Marsh/Bell begins construction on   Southern First branch

Easley-based Marsh/Bell   Construction has begun building the new Southern First Bank in the Forest   Hills area of Columbia. The bank announced plans to build the branch in   January. The branch will be the third Midlands location for Southern First.

IT-ology brings digital learning   initiative to Columbia

The iSchool Initiative   Digital Learning Revolution Tour will make a stop in Columbia on Aug. 1.   Educators, students and parents will have the opportunity to learn more about   bringing mobile learning on the iPad and iPod touch into the classroom.

Columbia Police Department   promotes officers

Columbia Police Chief   Randy Scott announced that nine officers have received promotions during a   recognition ceremony at Columbia Police Department headquarters. The   promotions include a lieutenant, four sergeants and four corporals.
