Lexington Irmo Lake Murray Real Estate Update 09-02-2011
Can Lexington Move Trucks Out of Town? - It's no secret that trucks play a big role in Lexington's traffic congestion. Town officials and consultants from the Boudreaux Group have been talking with trucking industry leaders about what might be done to lessen truck traffic through downtown. Solutions to the problem include creating bypasses on Harmon Street or Gibson Road or allowing only trucks making local deliveries to access Main Street. With these changes, these streets would have to be widened and the streets used as bypasses would be turned into tree-lined boulevards with biking and walking paths along them.
New Apartment Plan Concerns its Neighbors - A developer's plan for 90 Lexington apartments concerns at least one neighbor. Neighbors have heard that the plan for the apartments beside Lakeland Apartments on Old Chapin Road is for government-subsidized housing and developer Wade McGuinn said the apartments will be good for the area and good for the town. A worker for the state claims " we're trying to build a legacy project. We're doing it responsibly".
